The Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus, under the direction of Chris Vander Pas, will hold its annual “Album of Barbershop Harmony” on Saturday, April 6, at The Grand Oshkosh, 100 High Avenue. Two shows will be held during the day, a matinee show starting at 2 p.m. and and evening show starting at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $18 and are good for either show. Tickets are available at The Grand Oshkosh box office (920-424-2350), or directly from the The Grand’s website at thegrandoshkosh.org. Other ticket sources can be found on the chorus website at barbershopsingers.org.
An Afterglow will be held in The Grand Lounge following the evening performance with local quartets and the featured quartet closing out the evening.
The theme of the show is “BHS Television in Harmony.” The program takes a look at the old TV shows we used to see and love with songs of that time. Clicking through the channels, we remember days gone by that gave us joy and laughter.

The featured quartet will be Kordal Kombat, who were founded in the fall of 2009 on the Morris campus of the University of Minnesota. The quartet has test driven the entire spectrum of a cappella music genres from classical to gospel, pop, doo-wop, jazz, and everything in between.
In the fall of 2012, they discovered their true love was for the barbershop style of singing. Soon after that discovery, Kordal Kombat joined the Willmar chapter of the Land O’ Lakes (LOL) District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Now all four members are proud, first generation barbershoppers.
In October of 2013, Kordal Kombat made LOL District history by becoming the first quartet ever to win both the Novice Quartet Championship and the District Quartet Championship in the same year. Since then, they went on to win the 2014 LOL Collegiate Quartet Championship, and competed two more times in the International Collegiate Barbershop Quartet Contest, placing as high as eighth. In the summer of 2017, Kordal Kombat competed in the International Barbershop Quartet Contest for the first time, and placed 27th in the world.
