The Oshkosh Winnebagoland Barbershop Chorus, under the direction of Todd Oxley, won the Packerland Division championship and also the Plateau AA honors with 44 singers on stage. The competitions were held May 15 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Other competing choruses came from Manitowoc, Stevens Point, Plymouth, Ripon, and Wausau.
The chorus qualified to compete in the Land O’ Lakes (LOL) District competition to be held in Fargo, North Dakota in October. The LOL District consists of barbershop chapters located in the states of Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and the Canadian Provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.
In the quartet competition, several foursomes with Oshkosh ties, performed well. Counterpoint won the division championship and, for the third consecutive year, qualified to compete in the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Collegiate Competition this June in Philadelphia. Quantum placed 3rd, Perfect Timing placed 4th, and One Button Short were novice champions. All of these quartets qualified for the LOL district competition in Fargo.
